Instagram’s Testing Carousel Posts Within the Reels Stream
Currently testing with some users, Instagram is working on carousels within Reels, which will enable users to post multiple videos and/or still images in a single Reels post. No word from Instagram as to when this will be fully rolled out, but the UI looks pretty polished, and some brands are already testing out the option in-stream.
Meta Prompts Advertisers to Purchase Boosted Posts on Desktop To Avoid Apple Fees
As of Feb 2024, Apple will begin charging iOS users a 30% service charge on boosted posts when they’re purchased in app, which Meta is pushing onto buyers, as opposed to absorbing that extra cost. Meta: “To support the millions of small businesses that use boosted posts on Facebook and Instagram, advertisers can now go to Instagram.com and Facebook.com on mobile and desktop to boost their content and avoid a 30% Apple service charge.”
Instagram Adds ‘People You Follow’ Filter for DMs
Instagram has added a new DM filter option for creators, which will enable you to filter your inbox to only messages from profiles that you follow in the app. The new “People you follow” option will enable you to prioritise DMs from only the profiles that you’ve chosen to follow, which could make it easier to prioritise personal connections.

A Cautionary Tale on Having No ‘Plan B’ When You Get Sick and Can’t Work
Highlighting the importance of living your life with a plan B in place, Partners Life has launched ‘The Heist’, the latest iteration of its ‘Get Life Right’ brand platform. The campaign highlights the consequences of not having income protection coverage and provokes the audience to think of income protection as a plan b, rather than facing the alternative, like we see here, and being forced into taking desperate measures to stay afloat. It uses a bit of dark humour to get the point across.
