Instagram Launches ‘Best Practices’ Tips Element
Instagram is launching a "Best Practices" section in its Professional Dashboard to help creators enhance their content strategies with tips and insights based on research. While the emphasis on frequent posting, like 10 Reels a month, may benefit Instagram, the author expresses scepticism, arguing that quality and resonant content are more important than quantity. The section promises tailored tips based on individual account performance, though many suggestions appear vague, such as emphasising the need for engaging content.
Instagram Implements Advanced Protections for Teen Users
In response to concerns about teen safety on social media, Instagram is implementing new restrictions for all teen users to enhance protections. Under its Teen Protection initiative, Instagram will automatically place teens in a more secure mode, including features like private accounts, strict messaging settings, sensitive content controls, and limited interactions. Teens will receive reminders to take breaks after 60 minutes and have sleep mode activated between 10pm and 7am Additionally, they can choose topics for their Explore recommendations. While these measures aim to reassure parents and address regulatory scrutiny, there’s concern that they may push teens toward other platforms like Snapchat and TikTok, as Instagram tries to balance user engagement with safety.

SPCA Singapore Unveil the Dark Side of Pet Ownership in New Public Awareness Campaign
SPCA Singapore launched the "Neglect Hides in Plain Sight" campaign to raise awareness about pet neglect and encourage community action. The campaign features a social experiment at Yishun Bus Interchange, showcasing a cat's gradual neglect over a week to prompt passersby to recognise signs of deterioration and reflect on animal welfare. The activation video has sparked islandwide conversations about responsible pet ownership. With a notable increase in neglect cases due to post-pandemic changes, the campaign aims to educate the public on the seriousness of neglect, paralleling it with overt abuse. Supported by striking visuals of various pets, the campaign runs through the end of October, emphasising the need for compassion and responsibility among pet owners.
