 Instagram Implements Advanced Protections for Teen Users

In response to concerns about teen safety on social media, Instagram is implementing new restrictions for all teen users to enhance protections. Under its Teen Protection initiative, Instagram will automatically place teens in a more secure mode, including features like private accounts, strict messaging settings, sensitive content controls, and limited interactions. Teens will receive reminders to take breaks after 60 minutes and have sleep mode activated between 10pm and 7am Additionally, they can choose topics for their Explore recommendations. While these measures aim to reassure parents and address regulatory scrutiny, there’s concern that they may push teens toward other platforms like Snapchat and TikTok, as Instagram tries to balance user engagement with safety.
